The Chicago Independent Radio Project is working to secure a broadcast license for a new community radio station in Chicago that is committed to local, independent programming, and generally furthering the causes of localism, diversity, and independence in broadcasting. We are working to convince Congress and the FCC to remove existing barriers to the granting of low power FM radio licenses in urban areas, including Chicago. We hope you'll join the fight.

How to become a CHIRP volunteer

CHIRP is an all-volunteer organization. Members meet monthly to work on issues and events and chart progress. Meeting days float to allow the maximum number of people to be involved, but they generally take place the third week of the month. CHIRP has six active committees that sometimes meet outside of the regular monthly meeting. The committees are Events, Outreach and Partnerships, Tech, Design and Merchandise, Legislative, and Marketing and Promotion. All volunteers are asked to serve on at least one committee.

If you’re interested in being actively involved with CHIRP, please e-mail us at CHIRP(AT)chicagoindependentradioproject.org

Please note, signing up for the CHIRP mailing list on this site will not result in getting information about volunteering, only about events and activism. If you want to be involved more directly, please contact us at the address above.
